About us
Emerald Veterinary Health is a veterinary practice specialising in the porcine sector. We are based nr Market Weighton in East Yorkshire and cover Yorkshire, Durham, Teeside, Lincolnshire and beyond.
Our goal is to deliver our clients with the level of service, expertise and savings that they deserve. We pride ourselves on the deep trust and close working relationships we establish with clients, farm managers, stockmen and industry partners. These working relationships form the backbone of our services.
Meet the EVH team...
Louise Blenkhorn
BSc(Hons), BVM&S, MRCVS
Louise (owner and director) has been a pig vet for over 15 years.
Louise is a former winner of Young Pig Vet of the Year (2018). Her deep rooted knowledge of, and passion for the pig industry came from a very young age helping her father and grand-father on the families 350 sow farrow to finish pig farm in Co Down, Northern Ireland and effectively has 30 years of hands on experience in the sector. Louise specialises in the production and management of indoor units.
Rebecca Mckelvey
BVM&S, MRCVS
Becky (owner and director) qualified from the Univeristy of Nottingham in 2022 and since then has worked solely with pigs. Becky grew up in Holywood, Co Down, Northern Ireland. As well as deep technical knowledge, Becky also brings practical on-farm experience.
Becky is passionate about all aspects of pig medicine as well as conducting AHDB training and planning/carrying out on-farm trial work.
Neil Blenkhorn
Neil (director and practice manager) has a lifelong connection with farming being raised on a mixed East Yorkshire family farm and having farmed pedigree Beef, Sheep and arable all his working life.
Neil is passionate about delivering quality of service and savings for fellow farmers and heads up our EVH sundry supplies.
Dawn Ross
Dawn joined us in November 2025 as our dispensary manager. Dawn grew up on a pig farm and is a former Animal Health Officer at the APHA.
Dawn will be processing orders, managing stock levels, answering dispensary queries and preparing our van deliveries.
Joseph Lamb
Joey will be a regular sight on delivery days carrying out our fortnightly van deliveries to North and East Yorkshire and helping to deliver a quality and reliabe service to our clients.

We have a simple motto at Emerald Veterinary Health, Passion and Progress, and we not only use it, we live it. The passion comes from our deep connection with, and love for, the industry. It's in our blood. The passion we have manifests in our approach to everything we do. When you have the passion, the progress comes naturally.
The pig farming sector has never been reluctant to make progress, and neither are we. We will always strive to improve what we can do and what we can offer for our clients, including working closely with industry partners to explore the very latest in what technology can assist our clients, and ourselves, to make progress.
